Ghanaian President and AU Reparations Champion, John Mahama, has stated that Africa’s independence remains incomplete without reparations for historical exploitation.
Speaking at the AU’s 7th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in Malabo, Mahama stressed the need to restore Africa’s dignity and identity through reparations.
He noted that development cannot occur without addressing the erasure of African heritage.
Mahama also announced that the AU Executive Council has extended the reparations agenda by ten years, from 2026 to 2036, to maintain momentum and enhance resource mobilisation across member states.
