Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket following a 99-02 victory over Cameroon.
The win in Kigali saw Mohammed Abdulrahman’s side finish top of Group B after earlier triumphs against Madagascar and holders Tunisia. Cameroon, who also defeated Tunisia and Madagascar in their first two games, will now head to the play-offs to fight for a last-eight spot.
The contest started closely, with Nigeria edging the first quarter 28-27. By half-time, D’Tigers had pulled away, leading 60-43. The Nigerians extended their advantage to 86-55 by the end of the third quarter, leaving Cameroon with too much ground to cover.
Despite a late push from the Cameroonians, Nigeria closed out the game comfortably to maintain their unbeaten run in the group stage.
D’Tigers will meet the third-placed team from Group A in the quarter-finals as they continue their chase for a fourth AfroBasket title.
