A member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Adewale Alade Oba, has dismissed claims of deep-rooted disunity within the party, insisting that the APC in Ekiti remains united despite differing views among members.

Speaking with VEONEWS on Tuesday, Prince Alade Oba clarified that what many perceive as internal crisis is, in fact, nothing more than healthy intra-party contestation. He likened the situation to siblings from the same mother competing for an inheritance, arguing that competition within a family does not amount to disintegration. He noted that a member’s criticism of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s leadership, particularly suggestions that another aspirant could do better, should not be misinterpreted as rebellion.

However, Alade Oba did not hold back in his critique of Governor Oyebanji’s administrative style faulting the Governor for what he described as a slow and non-inclusive approach to governance and citing the delayed appointment of commissioners six months after assuming office, the continued neglect of party structures and functionaries.

Responding to recent comments by Hon. Bimbo Daramola and Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who had both praised Governor Oyebanji for being accessible and popular, Alade Oba accused Daramola of engaging in ‘damage control.’ He claimed that Daramola himself had been side-lined in key decisions such as local government elections and appointments. “He has no commissioner or councillor from his local government. He is a political gladiator, but one who has also become a victim of exclusion,” Alade Oba asserted.
