Nigeria’s national electricity grid suffered another collapse on Wednesday, causing a sharp drop in power generation from 2,917.83 megawatts to just 1.5 megawatts within one hour between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.
Following the incident, the X (formerly Twitter) account “Nigeria National Grid,” which shares real-time updates on power distribution, announced that system restoration efforts are underway.
In a follow-up update, the account revealed that all electricity distribution companies (DisCos), except for Ibadan DisCo, recorded zero megawatt load allocation, meaning they received no power from the grid during the collapse.
As of the time this report was filed, no DisCo had issued a formal statement or explanation regarding the grid failure.
