Former Nigerian Vice President Alhaji Namadi Sambo has officially joined the All Progressives Congress, abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sambo, 70, served as Vice President from 2010 to 2015 under Goodluck Jonathan and was previously Kaduna State Governor from 2007 to 2010. The PDP ticket he shared with Jonathan lost to APC’s Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Following his defection, Sambo was photographed with current Kaduna Governor Uba Sani, marking another high-profile departure from the opposition PDP.
Earlier, one of Sambo’s allies, Sani Sidi, alongside his supporters defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna.
Sidi, a former Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and several PDP supporters were received into the ruling party by the Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Tuesday.
