Nigeria’s Super Falcons will depart on Saturday for Lisbon to face Portugal in an international friendly on Monday as part of preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Justine Madugu’s squad will travel to Morocco the following day to continue their final preparations for the continental tournament, where they aim to secure a record-extending tenth title.
The Super Falcons will play another friendly against Ghana’s Black Princesses whilst in Morocco before the tournament begins.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria for the competition. All three group stage matches will take place at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
The Super Falcons begin their campaign against Tunisia on Sunday, 6 July, as they seek to extend their dominance of African women’s football.
The team’s preparations include these two friendlies as they fine-tune tactics and assess squad fitness ahead of what promises to be a competitive tournament in Morocco.
Nigeria remain favourites to lift the trophy once again, having established themselves as the continent’s premier women’s football nation through nine previous AFCON victories.
