The Laribikusi Ruling House in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, has dissociated itself from the re-coronation of Oba Samuel Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa.

In a statement released in Ibadan on Friday, key representatives of the ruling house rejected Governor Seyi Makinde’s presentation of the staff of office to Adegbola on 6 March 2025, describing the move as illegitimate and a breach of tradition.

The statement, signed by five prominent princes from various quarters of the Laribikusi family, alleged that Adegbola was previously removed by a Supreme Court ruling in 2019 and is not a legitimate heir to the Eruwa throne.

“There is no Ajobo or Akindele royal lineage in Eruwa,” the ruling house declared, accusing political actors and hand-picked kingmakers of reinstating a candidate with no ancestral ties to the royal line.

They described the reinstallation as an affront to Eruwa’s customs and vowed not to recognise Adegbola’s reign.

The ruling house urged residents to remain peaceful while promising to pursue legal redress to protect Eruwa’s traditional institutions.
