The House of Representative has commenced an investigation into the implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) implementation policy in the country.
The chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee saddled with the probe, Ahmadu Jaha, while speaking at the inaugural meeting of the panel, said the committee will assess the safety, viability and sustainability of the CNG policy in the country.
Recall that the President Bola Tinubu administration had introduced the CNG policy after the President ended the fuel subsidy regime. However, there have concerns over limited number of CNG centers across the country.
Jaha noted that the panel in the discharge of its duties will engage with all relevant agencies of government, International Oil Companies (IOCs) and other organisations to ensure that the nation’s policy on CNG meets global best practices.
