
Renowned Nigerian film and stage producer, Kayode Peters, has died in Toronto, Canada, at the age of 49.
His family confirmed the news via his official Instagram page on Saturday, revealing that he passed away peacefully after battling a long-term illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Kayode Peters Adewumi… KP braved, challenged, and conquered a long-time illness until his last breath,” the statement read.
Widely known as “KP,” Peters was a pivotal figure in Nigerian theatre and television. He gained prominence as the producer of the hit comedy series Flatmates in the early 2000s and also created the popular sitcom Extended Family.
A University of Lagos graduate in English, he later obtained a master’s degree in film and television production from the University of Greenwich and a diploma in digital marketing from a Canadian institution.
Until his death, Peters remained active in Nollywood and diaspora storytelling, producing short films, web series, and stage plays.
Tributes have continued to pour in from fans and industry colleagues who remember him as a kind, creative force and quiet pioneer in Nigerian entertainment.
