The member representing Mikang Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Nanloong Daniel (APC) has emerged as the new Speaker of the House.
The development followed the resignation of Gabriel Dewan (YPP), the erstwhile Speaker.
Recall the election took place during an emergency sitting held at the temporary Assembly Complex located at the Old Government House, Jos.
Nanloong Daniel, a former Majority Leader in the 9th Assembly, was unanimously chosen by his colleagues to lead the Assembly.
It was gathered that the change in leadership came on the heels of a closed-door meeting involving Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the former Speaker Gabriel Dewan and other lawmakers.
The meeting according to report was convened as part of efforts to address ongoing political tensions within the state.
