Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have criticised the conduct of former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, describing it as unacceptable and reflective of a growing trend of disruptive passenger behaviour.

AON spokesperson, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, expressed concern that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had yet to clarify the incident two days after it occurred. He made these remarks during an event in Lagos where United Nigeria Airlines announced its integration into the SIBAS Global Distribution System (GDS).

Okonkwo stressed that while passengers have rights, they must adhere to international aviation regulations. “No level of disappointment justifies self-help. This was a clear case of disruptive behaviour,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has directed aviation agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly.

He urged restraint in public statements, stating on X: “I have engaged both parties and directed agencies to gather all evidence before conclusions are reached.”
