Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the banner of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), have welcomed the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, describing it as part of the party’s ongoing evolution.
The resolution followed a two-day strategic meeting held in Benin City, hosted by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo. In a communique read by PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, the Forum committed to reforms that would strengthen party unity, deepen grassroots governance, and accelerate socio-economic development nationwide.
Ganduje, who resigned on Friday, said he was stepping down to attend to “urgent personal matters.” APC spokesperson Felix Morka confirmed President Bola Tinubu had directed Ali Dalori to assume the role of Acting National Chairman pending NEC ratification.
The PGF reaffirmed loyalty to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed satisfaction with ongoing macroeconomic and institutional reforms, including fiscal federalism, subsidy removal, and food security initiatives.
The Forum also welcomed Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, hailed recent high-profile defections to the APC, and called for greater investment in security, grassroots governance, and economic inclusion.
