Atlanta police say computer drives containing unreleased music, performance plans, and other sensitive material belonging to American pop icon Beyoncé were stolen from a rental car last week.
The theft occurred on July 8, just days before Beyoncé began the Atlanta leg of her Cowboy Carter tour, according to an incident report released on Monday. The suspect remains at large.
The stolen items were in the vehicle of Christopher Grant, 37, a choreographer for the singer, and an unnamed dancer. Grant told police he returned to the vehicle to find its rear window smashed and their luggage missing.
Among the stolen property were multiple USB drives containing “watermarked music, some unreleased music, footage, plans for the show, and past and future setlists,” the police report said.
Also reported missing were an Apple MacBook, high-end headphones, and luxury fashion items.
Police said they tracked the locations of the MacBook and headphones but did not confirm whether any of the stolen items had been recovered. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a suspect, whose name has not yet been made public.
Beyoncé, known for tightly controlling her creative output and tour operations, has not issued a statement on the incident.
The Cowboy Carter tour, which began in April, follows the release of Beyoncé’s country-themed album of the same name — a landmark work that explores Black contributions to country music and challenges genre boundaries. The album won her the 2024 Grammy for Album of the Year.
The superstar concluded a four-night run in Atlanta on Monday and is expected to wrap up the tour with two final shows in Las Vegas later this month.
