Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has issued a stern warning to former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cautioning him against visiting the state without prior notice to his administration.

Speaking in Uromi, the administrative center of Esan North East Local Government Area, Governor Okpebholo stated that he could not guarantee Obi’s safety if he visits the state without proper communication noting that any incident involving Obi under such circumstances would be his own responsibility.

The governor referenced a previous visit by Obi, during which he reportedly donated N15 million.

According to Okpebholo, the visit was followed by a crisis that allegedly resulted in the deaths of three individuals in Benin City.

“His security cannot be guaranteed. We are serious about it,” the governor said. “Tell Obi not to come to Edo without informing me. Whatever happens, he will bear the consequences.”

Governor Okpebholo made the remarks while receiving Hon. Marcus Onobun, a House of Representatives member who recently defected from the PDP to the APC.
