Political appointees of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday donated N10m to purchase the All Progressives Congress nomination form for their principal ahead of the forthcoming governorship primary election of the party.
The appointees, comprising Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants serving in the current administration, said their decision was “driven by the desire to ensure continuity of the governor’s policies and projects, particularly in infrastructure, human capital development, and economic growth.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Strategy, Tope Olanipekun, who spoke on behalf of the appointees in Ado Ekiti when the aides gathered to present the cheque for the amount to the governor, said, “Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated exceptional leadership, transparency, and dedication to the welfare of Ekiti people.
“This justifies our decision to rally support for his second term in office. Our contribution is voluntary and reflects the confidence the aides have in the governor’s ability to sustain good governance,” he said.
Olanipekun stressed that the All Progressives Congress had set the cost of the purchase of the Expression of Interest Form at N10m and the Nomination Form at N40m, as well as scheduling the commencement of the sale of the form for August 26.
He stated that the aides chose to pay for the Expression of Interest Form “to show the world that all the endorsements by over 300 groups in the state are a true reflection of the love the people have for the governor.”
