Pep Guardiola celebrated his 1000th game in management with a commanding 3–0 victory over defending Premier League champions Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.

Goals from Erling Haaland, Nico González, and Jérémy Doku sealed a memorable night for the City boss, whose side completely outclassed their visitors from start to finish.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 29th minute, rising highest to head home from a Matheus Nunes cross, making up for an earlier missed penalty. City doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime when González pounced on a loose ball inside the box to make it 2–0.

Doku, who was later named Player of the Match added the third in the 63rd minute, finishing off a flowing team move that left Liverpool’s defence helpless.

The result was a statement of intent from Guardiola’s men, who delivered a masterclass in control, pressing, and precision against the reigning champions.

For Guardiola, it was a perfect way to mark his milestone match — one that underscored his enduring brilliance and tactical evolution since beginning his managerial journey at Barcelona in 2008.
