The management of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, has dismissed a viral report alleging a plot by the institution’s Senate to unseat the Governing Council Chairman, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina.
The university described the document on which the report was based as fake, stressing that it did not emanate from FUOYE authorities.
It also urged security agencies to investigate the source of the document.
In a statement issued today, the University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mufutau Ibrahim, said the report by an online medium was unfounded, lacking merit, and should be disregarded.
The medium had claimed in a Thursday publication that the university Senate was plotting to remove the Governing Council Chairman for supporting the Vice-Chancellor, among other allegations.
But Ibrahim said, “The management of FUOYE wishes to dissociate itself from the content of a publication by a medium on 21st August, 2025 in which they mischievously attempted to disparage the persons and positions of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Ndoma-Egba, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Fasina.
“We, therefore, wish to inform the University Community and the general public that the information purportedly used to craft the publication issued by the medium did not emanate from the authorities of FUOYE.
