The African Export-Import Bank, Afreximbank, has named Cameroonian,  Dr George Elombi as its next President and Chairman of the Board for an initial period of five years.

The announcement was made during the Bank’s 32nd Annual Meetings in Abuja.

Elombi will take over from Professor Benedict Oramah in September 2025, becoming the Bank’s fourth president since its establishment in 1993.

Elombi has been with Afreximbank since 1996, rising through the ranks to his current post as Executive Vice President for Governance, Legal, and Corporate Services.

He played key roles in shaping the Bank’s structure and response to crises, including leading its COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee, which mobilised over two billion dollars for vaccine efforts across Africa and the Caribbean.
