The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Monday, decorated 28 newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event took place at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Those decorated include 12 officers elevated from the rank of Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and 16 officers promoted from Deputy Commissioner of Police to CP. The promotions were recently approved by the Police Service Commission following a recommendation by the IGP.

In his address, the police boss noted that the promotion exercise was part of a broader welfare initiative under his leadership, which has seen the fastest and most extensive wave of promotions in the history of the Force.
