The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA to urgently provide relief materials to families displaced as a result of the recent invasion of Yelwata community, Benue State, by yet-to-be-arrested gunmen.
Recall Over 200 Nigerians were recently killed when armed men invaded the community with sophisticated weapons and unleashed terror.
The resolution of the House followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance during Wednesday’s plenary, sponsored by the member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Mr Dickson Tarkighir.
The lawmaker noted that apart from those who lost their lives following the June 14 invasion of 200 of Yelwata community, thousands of residents have been displaced, leading to a dire humanitarian situation marked by loss of lives, destruction of property, and widespread destitution.
