The Kaduna State Chapter of the Union of Retired Police Officers has announced plans to join their counterparts across Nigeria in a nationwide peaceful protest scheduled for 21 July 2025, demanding the removal of the Nigeria Police Force from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
In a statement issued in Kaduna, Chairman Retired CSP Mannir Lawal Zaria and Vice Chairman Retired ASP Danlami Maigamo said the protest, dubbed the “Mother of All Peaceful Protests,” will be strictly non-violent.
The resolution was reached during the union’s monthly meeting at the Police Officers’ Mess in Kaduna, where members expressed frustration over the lack of response to their earlier demands.
The group recalled a previous protest held between 24 February and 3 March 2025 at the National Assembly, where petitions were submitted to key lawmakers and security officials. Despite a public hearing held on 19 November 2024 regarding a proposed Police Pension Board, the union said no feedback has been received.
They disassociated themselves from any group planning violent action, attributing their protest to worsening economic hardship, financial neglect, and rising deaths among retired officers under the CPS.
